NEW: Youth Soccer Coach's Corner

Thanks to a YST reader who suggested a topic page exclusively for youth soccer coaches.

This site is designed for club administrators to publish specifications who may be looking to add new coaches or coaches in search of employment. Posters are welcome to post their email addresses but no direct phone numbers please.

Finally, coaches are also invited to utilize this page to discuss questions or issues they are facing (god bless you all) coaching boys and girls youth soccer teams.

We are obviously all aware of the recent (and ongoing) scandals at the highest levels of soccer. It is an unfortunate reality that in many state organizations there exists a culture of corruption that has pervaded the overall youth soccer scene in the US.

I have been made aware of/affected by an instance involving a state organization in which several representatives of the association have colluded with a large club to take punitive action action players, coaches and former affiliates all in an effort to appease. My question relates to how parents, players and coaches can protect their interests in instances where there is corruption within the state association? Is there an independent governing body to which they can appeal? It is quite disheartening to learn just how much state associations align themselves with the interests of clubs—after all they represent more money, votes and influence than individuals could ever do.

People outside of the soccer community are constantly make reference to taking legal action, but I would much prefer a less litigious form of recourse. Any advice you might have would be greatly appreciated. At this point appealing to the head of the state association is out of the question, as it has been demonstrated time and again that the corruption escalates to the top of this association.

Its Thursday the week of the Freehold Frightfest tournament and the schedule is still not posted. The tournament committee is doing a terrible job and I want coaches to be aware of this mismanagement. This tournament tries to cram as many teams as possible in order to make the biggest profit. It's a huge disregard for peoples time. There are plenty of other Halloween tournaments and this will not be one we enter next year.
